What an unbelievable experience! Truly incredible! The amount of vehicles and memorabilia is amazing! The care in the details and the knowledge of the staff is mind blowing. A true must see, And if you are there in the summer for the Miltary Weekend, Make sure you get a tank ride!! Unforgettable!So much history that is brought to life with brilliance. Great time for the whole family.

When you arrive at the museum, there are several military vehicles outside you can view. I decided to check them out after I toured the museum myself. When you enter the museum the customer desk is right in front of you. The staff were very helpful and even gave a mini tour of what was in the display area. To the right is a Sherman tank and to the left are some Jeeps to check out. Around the walls are displays showcasing models of the various vehicles from World War II. This is a free area but the museum for me cost $16.00 for general admission. It is a lower cost for those in the military, senior citizens and children. They have a nice large eatery but it was not open when I was there. It was the middle of the week so not too many people were here to have it open. They did have some food and drinks available for you if you needed a small bite. There is a shop with plenty of souvenirs from signs to books to clothing to toys. They also sell antique toys, memorabilia and books in some of the wall displays. The bathrooms are down the hall next to the eatery. There is a small room across from the bathrooms called the Eisenhower Room. It looks to be a presentation room with some photos and some memorabilia of Dwight Eisenhower and his wife. I will mention that you should visit the Eisenhower House as they did live in Gettysburg. Take some time to stop at his home and walk the grounds here. They sometimes have volunteers that will take you through the museum. They were not there that day so I missed out. When you first walk into the exhibit hall, there's a display showing Gettysburg throughout the years, the relationship with World War 2 and other wars. Then, you walk through a mini room set up with Sears and Roebuck items of the time. It leads to a display showing the War Rationing, the Victory Gardens and the Workforce that helped to fund the war. From there, you walk into a huge open area showcasing different varieties of vehicles and exhibits. This is where you get the full history of the war. Some of the dioramas were set up to give you a feel of what it was like. They have some of the areas broken down to key points of the War. I was amazed at how many items were there along with the vehicles. It is memorable to see and read about the war. YOu can get lost here even though the size isn’t that big. They even have some diaries written by the soldiers that were there during the Normandy landings. The photos and videos don’t really showcase what is here for you to see. There is a large collection of personal memorabilia from those that served in WWII. It was amazing to see what was from people in the surrounding area. I am glad that they are saving these memories for those that come later. It is a great way to get a more personal understanding for those that were there during the chaos. Make sure you plan at least 1.5 hours being here. To read some of the information plaques, plan to stay here a bit longer. They have some vehicles to see outside and they have a large back area. On certain days they actually have tanks and other vehicles for you to take a ride in (I don’t know the cost) which would be a wild experience.
