More Than Just a Symposium

Guests will enjoy meals and beverages inspired by the Normandy region of France, providing a unique culinary experience that complements the day's presentations.

During the lunch break, visitors can explore historic military vehicles displayed outside the museum and climb aboard the World War II American Experience's M4A1 Sherman Medium Tank for a hands-on connection to the history being discussed.

Following the final presentation, attendees are invited to continue the conversation during a reception at the Pub.

Continue the Story at Gettysburg's Majestic Theater

While attending the D-Day Symposium, consider extending your experience with a visit to the historic Majestic Theater.

The acclaimed film Pressure explores the tense 72 hours leading up to D-Day, when General Dwight D. Eisenhower and meteorologist Captain James Stagg faced the monumental decision of whether weather conditions would allow Operation Overlord to proceed. With the fate of the Allied invasion—and the free world—hanging in the balance, the film offers a compelling look at the leadership, uncertainty, and courage that shaped June 6, 1944.

The themes explored in Pressure complement many of the presentations featured during the World War II American Experience D-Day Symposium, including the planning and buildup to the invasion, the execution of Operation Overlord, and the stories of those who fought in Normandy. Together, the symposium and the film provide a deeper understanding of one of history's most consequential days.
