D-DAY, OMAHA BEACH EHIBIT PREMIERE

The WWII American Experience Museum in Gettysburg, PA will host the premier opening of the travelling national exhibit, D-DAY, OMAHA BEACH, June 6th for a limited time.  This exhibit of sight and sound tells the story of the epic, world-changing battle that occurred 80 years ago on June 6, 1944. Through dioramas, sound, video and art, the story of this five mile stretch of Normandy beach is retold. The highlights of the exhibit are the two dioramas of 72 square feet that focus on the critical, and most contested exits from the beach, the Colleville Draw and the Vierville Draw. Telling the story of the big picture as well as that of key individuals, the exhibit has been designed to engage both youth and adults alike.

The creative team behind the project includes Keith Rocco, creator and project manager, Bernard Kempinski, diorama construction director, Mark Fastoso, video director and producer, John Mc Manus, author and historian, Michael Akkerman, photo researcher and terrain advisor, Joseph Balkoski and Kevin Hymel, authors and historians, and plus the artistic talents of yet another 10 volunteers.

Exhibit premiere and museum admission requires a ticket that can be purchased in advance or at the door.

Ticket includes the D-Day Omaha Beach exhibit premiere, museum admission, and a presentation by Jared Frederick of his newly released book, “Into the Cold Blue” at 7:30pm.  Sweets and snacks will be available with a tasting of the new “Ike Roast” coffee by Gettys Gear.
