Black Week was a period in World War II from October 8–14, 1943, when the US Army Air Forces (USAAF) suffered heavy losses during a series of bombing missions over Germany:

Losses
The USAAF lost 148 bombers, about 13% of its attacking aircraft and about 1,500 of the aircrew.

Visitvus today at the museum to learn more about the Mighty 8th and the 100th bomb group.

If you’re a “Masters of the Air” fan, visit us tonight for an exclusive event. Kirk Saduski, producer of the series will join us for a very special Q&A session.

Tickets are available at the door.

It was also a “black week” for German resistance. Willi Graf was beheaded on 10/12/1943, and Hans Leipelt was arrested the same week.

At World War II American Experience, we understand that our visiting veterans are a few of the last and we're committed to preserving their words forever.
Harry Miller sat down with us this summer to share his experiences in the 740th Tank Battalion.

Follow our YouTube channel for more videos of veterans of the battlefield and the home front.
